Storm Event May 10, 2008

PCARC members  were out full force on a tornadic storm
that produced this funnel in a moments notice.  The left pic was captured by Dennis (NV5J) and right pic Jered (W5BJG) which both had great position to follow the storm.  All members of the club done a fantastic job to help get the warning out in time for the McAlester area.

This tornado was classed as an EF2 which produced winds from 120 to 130 mph.  It tracked approx. 10 miles long and had a path of 200 yds wide at full force.  The bad side is their was some damage in the Haywood,OK area were homes and other personnel property was destroyed.

Thanks to all the Amateur Radio Operators that were out to help also Pittsburg Co. Emergency Management Office and all emergency services out risking lives to help lives.

PCARC Work Day

One of the new projects in the works with Pittsburg County Emergency Management, this as you can tell was once an ambulance and is now a upcoming Mobile Command Center.  The P.C.A.R.C. has been working on this with Emergency Management to get this on scene as soon as possible.  This work day (Jan. 12) several things where accomplished on getting this up and going.  Pictured from left is WK5Y (Jim), KD5OMB (Roy), W5BJG (Jered), KD5JCX (David).  Not pictured is W6SRF (Scott) who had just left and Trent the Emergency Management Director taking the picture.

This site has finally made it back online and is linked into the W5IAS Repeater System.  This site has come along way in the past few months.  Many people need to be thanked for all the effort put forth from building the final product to handling the logistics.  So from the rest of the club we do give a big thanks to them.

Here is some info on the link system from the Tulsa Amateur Radio Club.
The network now has repeaters in Tulsa (443.850 and 443.000), Mannford (442.000), Tahlequah (442.225), Cavanal Mt (442.250), Muskogee ( 443.100), Stillwater (444.525), Mounds, (444.600), Talihina (444.625), Ponce City (444.700), Bartlesville (444.975), McAlester (444.975), Paris,TX (442.125), Fayetteville AR (444.925), Decater AR (442.850), Ketchum (444.875) and coming soon Daisy (444.400).

These repeaters can all be linked (and usually are) giving amateurs the ability to talk from northeast Texas to the southern part of Kansas and from I-35 to western Arkansas.
